Flue Lining

Chimney’s are constructed of fire rated material such as brick, clay or refractory cement but over time these materials either crack or breakdown due to lack of inspection and maintenance, previous chimney fire or just old age. When this happens, then you should consider having flue lining installed.

What is a flue lining?

A Chimney lining typically comes in the form of a stainless steel flexible tube that follows the route of your existing flue. There are different grades of steel suited to certain types of appliances and fuels. 316L grade steel is suited to wood and solid fuel however you may want to consider 904L grade steel for a more resilient chimney liner.

Where there is no existing chimney such as in a modern home or outbuilding perhaps, then you can install a twin wall flue system. These are rigid sections of flue bolted and clipped together and designed to either run through the interior of the property or up an outside wall.
